Dr. ir. Sue-Yen Tjong Tjin Tai, is affiliated with the History Division of the Technology Innovation, Society Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, History of Bicycle Manufacturing Netherlands and Asia.
She will be working on a research project entitled Cycling Goes Glocal. Knowledge Circulation of Raleigh and Local partners in China, Africa, and South America, 1890-1970. She received her PhD from the Eindhoven University of Technology in 2015.
Her thesis “Connecting Small Firms for Innovation. Roles of Trade Associations and the Dutch Rijksnijverheidsdienst, 1900-1940″ includes a case study on the Dutch bicycle industry, published as “How the Netherlands became a Bicycle Nation: Users, Firms, and Intermediaries,1860-1940,” Business History (2015).
With Patrick Bek she is working on the cycling experience in Singapore over the past hundred years.
