Dr. Frank Schipper, SUM coordinator and PhD co-supervisor for dissertation project of Matthew Bruno on governance in the NWO-SURF Smart Cycling Futures Research Consortium, member of the NWO International Humanities Research Network The Cultural Politics of Sustainable Urban Mobility, 1890-Present (CPSUM) (2015-2018), is assistant professor in history of technology at the Technology, Innovation and Society Group at Eindhoven University of Technology. He coordinates the university-wide learning trajectory on The Future of Mobility from the perspective of users, society, and enterprise. His work focuses on transnational mobility, infrastructure studies, and European integration. He was a research fellow (2011-2012) at the German Historical Institute in Washington DC to investigating the mobility of American tourists visiting Europe in the long 20th century and their Grand Tour experience in Europe. He has been columnist for Next Generation Infrastructures and has won the Dr. C. Lely Prize for the best paper combining history and policy at the annual conference of the International Association for the History of Transport, Traffic & Mobility.
