Fariya Sharmeen

Fariya Sharmeen, a visiting scholar within the Cycling Cities Project focusing on Bangladesh and India, is a senior researcher in urban and  transportation planning. She has a dual affiliation at Radboud University and Delft University of Technology on two research projects funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) on the governance of sustainable mobility transitions.

Her research interest encompasses the social contexts of urban and transportation planning. She studies the behavioral traits and policy responses to sustainable mobility transitions in European as well as in Asian contexts. Notable projects related to cycling innovations that she is involved in are upscaling bicycle highways, Velo-city 2017, WhyWeCycle. Previously she held positions at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Cities Institute UK, Utrecht University and Imperial College London. Find out more about her work here
