Sabine Luning is Associate Professor at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, Leiden University, the Netherlands. Her research interests include economic anthropology, infrastructure and resource extraction. She carried out research on large-scale and small-scale gold mining in West Africa and the Amazon. She is currently a lead of the Sea-ing Africa programme. Her research is part of Cycling Cities: The African Experience.
